"content cannot be blank" error

Hey, i can't send email campaigns. when i try to i don't see the full editor i just see a blank textarea input without any options... and when i try to click "save and next", then everything i inputted there disappears and it gives me an error "content cannot be blank". what am i doing wrong?

Also, i have a notification at the top that says :

• The extension "CKeditor" needs updating from version 1.0 to version 1.2.3!

Is this connected? how do i update it?

The extension "CKeditor" needs updating from version 1.0 to version 1.2.3!

Go to Backend > Extend > Extensions and update the CKEditor Extension. (you have a button for that)

There is no "Extend" folder in your script under "backend" folder.
What I to do???

@Resnick joy - I was referring to the web interface, not to the file system
