email list csv importer

Heya,

When I download the example csv import file and reupload it, the importer works fine.
However if I open the same file in Excel, save it again and upload it, it gives me error: 'Cannot find the "email" column in your file!'

That is really odd. If I could solve it, I can do it with my real list.

Might be excels fault: http://superuser.com/questions/302334/true-difference-between-excel-csv-and-standard-csv

So what I will do is install libreoffice and try again.

I use Excel 2013 and it works fine when you save to CSV (comma delimited)

Okay, this is how I fixed it who get the same error.

- Save your list as excel csv file.
- Open the same file with notepad (I use notepad++)
- Somehow excel adds extra quotes likes this "". Delete them and save the file and you are good to go.

Not sure why it put the extra quotes, but I am glad it is fixed.

It sometimes does it automatically,
e.g. when you have an apostrophe within a name, as in "Jenna O'Neil"
so to 'make sure' there is 'no data mixed' in future use of the file
