How to resubscribe blacklisted subs?

I have some subscribers who got blacklisted for some reason (not sure why). They are trying to resubscribe via our subscription form. Our list is single opt in. The users get a message that their email is blacklisted and they can't resubscribe. How can I let them resubscribe?
 
search their email in your list and it will show as black listed. change their status to subscribed and save.
 
@Lakjin - They can't because they are blacklisted. you have to remove the from BL and change their status into confirmed for the lists they are part of.

Fair enough. However, I think I'm going to modify that error message they get. A lot of people are freaking out that I "blacklisted" them.
