I uploaded files to the wrong directory

I was updating another application, silly me, I didn't back up first.
I uploaded all of the files from the other application to the newsletter folder, telling it to overwrite the newsletter files.
Oddly, it seems to be working, but clearly I want to fix this.
Suggestions?
Can I delete the files and upload new ones? Is there a config file I should save first?

@Dilbert - just take the contents of the update folder from latest version of the app and upload them again like you just did.
This will override any existing file mailwizz needs.

Thanks, there are a lot of files that don't belong, to clean it up, can I delete the contents of the folder first?
