Tracking Domain Time To Take Effect?

Does anyone know if a change to the tracking domain takes effect right away or does it only change once you start a new campaign after having made the change?

For instance, If i change the tracking domain on the server in the middle of a campaign will it use that NEW domain for the remainder?

Or will it only start using it on the next campaign?
